Our Homeschool, Week 24: "Easter"

It's crazy to think that we're already 6 months into the "school year". It seems impossible for the time to have gone by so quickly!

We went with an Easter theme last week, since Easter was over the weekend! We did a lot of reading, including a favorite Leslie Patricelli book as our "bathtime book of the week". Above, you can also see a matching activity we printed out, and a fun game we played over and over with plastic easter eggs. I painted a cardboard egg carton with different dabs of paint, then Bu matched a plastic egg to the color in each cup. He did this activity several times in a row, he loves all things matching.

The Easter Bunny left Bu a puzzle and some books. We dyed eggs and had an egg hunt for the first time. We also spent some time playing our cousin's piano. Bu has a real knack/affinity for music! We played with some magnets and did a painting craft back home. We had a lot of fun this week!

Our Homeschool, Week 23: "St. Patrick's Day"

Last week was St. Patrick's Day, so we decided to dedicate the week to this holiday!

We had a few interactive worksheets that we used to practice number and letter recognition. We also practiced counting 1-4 and matching shapes.

We got a LOT of new books this week. We also downloaded a bunch of educational apps, thanks to Bu's scholarship. We found one we love called "Endless Reader" that lets him practice spelling and sight word recognition. Bu made a rainbow with Do-a-Dot markers and gluing cotton balls and foam. He was really into it! We were expecting a sensory meltdown but he really enjoyed this activity.

Our Homeschool, Week 22: "Under the Sea"

This week, we had an ocean/under the sea theme!

We had fun with this theme! Bu loves the water and sea creatures. We read a book about Medusa (not exactly on theme, but still fun) and did a sticker activity (art and sensory) similar to what we did a while back with the dinosaurs. Another sensory activity involved putting ocean-themed puzzle pieces in a bin full of sand for Bu to "fish" out!

We did some starfish counting and watched an episode of Magic School Bus called "Takes a Dive" to learn about coral reefs. We also took another field trip to the zoo to check the giant fish tank out (and to play in the splash pad, of course). We completed the week worth exploring the "undersea" wildlife in the inflatable pool out back ;) A great example of how learning can happen anywhere!

Our Homeschool, Week 21: "Spring"

This week, we had fun with Spring!

We did a lot of work with printables this week. We made our own shape puzzle, sorted mnipulatives by color on caterpillars, and matched uppercase letter magnets to lowercase raindrops.

We also had plenty of fun with puzzles, as always. We finished the week with a trip to the zoo that included a scavenger hunt with our "zoo animal' puzzle.
